Dear Members

As with the usual process each month we wish to broadcast an email that indicates suggestions that have been put forward by members. We wish to share with you a letter received recently that was posted on type written paper and anonymised which generally would have caused no call for concern.

Please see the committee general consensus response below.

To whom/those it may concern - composer of the letter

To clarify the committee is a democratic process held each year where committee members are elected by the membership. Any club member can be nominated into any of the roles however having appropriate skills, knowledge and positive attitude in both ethos of the club and in that area is advocated.

Club accounts are made available for the membership at the AGM and are always scrutinised before presentation by a third party.

Sadly the latter part of your letter has been seen as destructive, disrespectful and showed complete disregard for elected committee members and has therefore thrown all other comments made in your letter into insignificance. As you or those you appear to represent hide behind the wall of anonyminity and appear to have a perception that there is a 'conflict of interest', 'cronyism' and a general lack of trust in the judgement of the committee, we would like you to identify yourself/yourselves so we can create an opportunity for you to discuss with us and give clarification of these accusations.

As like any member you are entitiled to your perceptions/opinions and we hope the majority of the membership felt we governed the club being openly and transparently, when and if needed we are happy to improve in areas and to enlighten you free membership is being fully reviewed. In general most of the members are happy to value what we have, make positive constructive comments, enjoy their chosen sport and our club ethos, but as you have alluded to there may be nearer facilties that would personally suit your needs.

Making decisions for the 'greater good' cannot 'please all of the people all of the time' but we consider our membership to be a community and quite unique in its concept. We also know, being on the Committee is not a popularity competition and sometimes harsh decisions have to be made for that greater good.

Regards The Committee
