Dear Members,
Unfortunately, it has come to our attention that certain squash players are using the light override key (which is kept behind the bar) as a means of avoiding paying court fees, thus denying the club of vital income for providing courts, heat and lighting at a time in which we are desperately trying to bounce back from the serious financial impact of Covid.
Much thought, time, effort and expense has gone into providing an automated system that can be accessed online which will allow members to not only book a 40-minute session, but also add extra time purchasable in 10-minute increments.
The light override key should only be used for the following reasons:
Team matches (as fees for all players are paid by each team Captain at the bar)
If there is a malfunction of the MYCOURTS booking system that results in a court that has been booked and paid for not being lit automatically. Note that if the MYCOURTS system is faulty in any way and a court has not been paid for, a full booking fee (£3.50 off-peak and £5.50 peak) should be paid behind the bar before the override key is used.
By committee members or club coaches during official club events (e.g., open days).
If any member is caught:
a) using the light override key as a means of avoiding paying court fees or;
b) not paying for drinks received from the bar,
the club will consider each of these actions tantamount to stealing money out of the till and, therefore, a very serious disciplinary matter which could result in expulsion from the club.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
