Safeguarding Notice to Parents and Guardians

Dear Parent / Guardian

Firstly, I would like to welcome all new junior members to Burton Tennis & Squash Club, along with parents, guardians and family members.

I would like to introduce myself to those of you who have not met myself since joining the club, many of you have attended various events at the club, seen me on observation visits or just seen the safeguarding poster on the club noticeboard or in the coaches room downstairs.

I have been a member myself now for over 30 years, sat in several roles on the club committee including Social Secretary, Junior Secretary, Vice Chair, Chair and Club President.

As Safeguarding/Welfare Officer is the most recent position held, I wish to assure you at BTSC we take safeguarding serious for all members and in particular the more vulnerable groups that are our juniors and other children that visit the club.

I wish to assure you that all committee members and coaches have had DBS checks and provided evidence for this either through coaching qualifications or those requested by myself. Committee members have also had exposure and participation to safeguarding material required by the LTA.

I drive and support the Risk Assessments at the club and also monitor any incidents/accidents that occur, always following up anything that is reported. Events where juniors are involved these are also risk assessed at my request and completed by the coaches.

You may have seen our club newsletter which often has a safeguarding and welfare element to it. On the poster there are my contact details and also that of other agencies that may be needed to support safeguarding situations, please do not hesitate to get in touch even if it is only to say hello or discuss any safeguarding concerns.

Please make yourself aware of our Club Policies including Safeguarding Policy and Codes of Conduct which can be found on the noticeboard main corridor and the website.

As not to scare you I have attached my photograph to this email at the bottom!

Kind regards

Heather Green
