Closure of Burton Tennis and Squash Club

Dear Member,

It is with regret that I have to announce the closure of Burton Tennis and Squash Club from 10pm tonight (Saturday 21st March 2020).

Apart from a duty of care to our members, we also need to act responsibly in the interests of the wider community and play our part in trying to keep a lid on this wretched virus.

In one sense, this decision comes at an opportune moment because we are just about to conclude the current membership cycle, so it gives us an opportunity to prevent the new one being triggered at the start of April if we are not able to provide the services that members require; consequently, new membership payments will not be taken on April 1, but will be requested from you when the club is re-opened instead (we will probably request a pro rata payment that covers whatever remains of the normal 12-month membership period at that point).

Note that any direct debit arrangements will be halted before April 1.

During the closure, members may continue to use the tennis courts at their own risk until further notice, but please adhere as closely as possible to the social distancing protocols set out by the government, and do not come to the club if you have any cold-like symptoms or have come into contact within anyone who has.

We apologise for any inconvenience. I know that the club represents a very important part of all our health and social lives and will be sorely missed until national restrictions are lifted.

In the meantime, until the coast is clear, we hope that you and your families all stay safe.

Yours sincerely,

Shaun Baxter (BTSC Chairman)
