Road Traffic Accident on A511
Dear Members
Following a road traffic incident last night on the A511 adjacent to the club, involving a club member in his vehicle and a motorcyclist, we wish to give an update this afternoon.
From conversations we are pleased to say that the club member is safe and well, however obviously shaken up by the event, our offer of sincere support in any way has been given directly to the member himself.
We have at this stage no news regarding the other person involved, however we wish them well in their recovery.
Knowing how the 'grapevine' works we can also inform you that the recently built wall at the end of the drive is NOT in this incident, a significant contributory factor. However we continue to remind club members to take care when approaching and leaving the club site.
For your information since East Staffordshire Council declared ownership for the reinstatement of this part of the wall, following previous damage, they recently when contacted by the committee being displeased and aware of an increased risk, they stated they would not accept any liability on its design. Since that declaration the committee has had to take on both responsibility for the the wall and also the financial cost in getting the wall reinstated to a safe design.
The work was and is planned to go ahead and be completed by the end of next week, subject to the professional builder's availability of materials.
Finally we wish to thank those club members who attended the scene to offer help and support at the incident last night.
