Role Descriptions

Hi Everyone,

In response to my previous email, some members have been asking for short role descriptions of the various vacant Committee posts prior to the AGM; so, here they are:


TREASURER
The overall role of the treasurer is to:
• Manage the club’s finances, maintaining an overview of the financial position. In particular:
o Control Spending
o Keep the club on a sound footing both short term and long term
• Ensure the club’s financial viability
• Ensure that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
• Pay bills in a timely and responsible way.
• Provide Financial guidance and information to the committee to enable decisions involving spend.
• Pay and manage the cleaner’s PAYE
• Do the quarterly VAT return
• Provide the club auditor with all the required information for the preparation of the club’s annual accounts.
• Ensure the club's compliance with legislation
• Keep the committee informed about its financial duties and responsibilities



VICE CHAIR
Position Purpose:
The Vice Chair has the continuing responsibility to provide leadership to the General Committee in the absence of the Chairperson.

Scope And Range:
The vice chair has the support of the Chairperson in the management and running of the club and maintains an overview of the committee member roles.

Main Duties:
• Act in full deputising role in the absence of the Chairperson.
• Share and support the general work load of the Chairperson and other committee members as required.
• Undertake specific tasks and responsibilities as requested by the Chairperson.
• Work actively with the Chairperson to coordinate the work of the committee.
• Consider and comment upon the annual work and development programmes of the club.
• Together with the Chairperson, take action where appropriate to allocate projects to committee and sub-committee.
• Submit reports to the committee as required.
• Attend committee meetings.
• Undertake CRB clearance to safeguard self and members of the club



DPO (DATA PROTECTION OFFICER)
Making sure that the club is compliant with recent GDPR legislation (procedures etc)
Ensuring that appropriate policy documents are in place.
Dealing with any alleged breaches in data confidentiality



SPORTS AND SOCIAL SECRETARY
To devise, promote and manage various sports and social activities that will increase participation and promote the interests of the club.



MARKETING OFFICER
To devise and co-ordinate various marketing initiatives to grow membership numbers and to improve both the reach and reputation of the club.

  • Login and check you email address is correct.
  • Contact Us if you changed your email address.
  • Check you spam/junk folders (and mark the message as "not spam/junk" if you find it there).
  • Add "burtonsquash@no-reply.mycourts.co.uk" to your Contacts list or email address book.

  • Go to Gmail Settings > Filters and Blocked Addresses. If "Burton Tennis & Squash Club <burtonsquash@no-reply.mycourts.co.uk>" appears in the list of blocked addresses, select "Burton Tennis & Squash Club <burtonsquash@no-reply.mycourts.co.uk>" and click "unblock selected addresses".

Other email service providers may have similar settings -- please follow their instructions. If not, contact their support desk and request delivery of messages from burtonsquash@no-reply.mycourts.co.uk.
