Edale Skyline Walk - Sunday 27th October

Dear All,

As a reminder, we are looking to walk the Edale Skyline next Sunday 27th October.

Around 22 miles, the Edale Skyline is certainly no walk in the park. It’s an enticing, tough but do-able challenge through glorious Peaks scenery that’s a great introduction to long-distance walking and great fun for experienced walks too. As well as a challenge from the distance covered, this route has 1,252m (4,108ft) of ascent - so those legs will get an extra workout with all the ups and downs.

We are meeting at BTSC car park and plan to leave no later than 6am towards our starting point in the village of Hope. To avoid taking multiple cars we are looking to car share, so if your interested in the walk, please indicate whether you are willing to drive. So far, we have two volunteers to drive but depending on numbers we may need more.

We intend to start walking 7.30/ 7.45am as the 22mile route will take 10 hours approx to walk. The route will be anti-clockwise taking in Win Hill first then onto Kinder, round to Mam Tor up to Lose Hill then back to Hope.

Whilst this walk is not the most technical, the main difficulty is the distance. Therefore, you will need a good level of fitness and be able to carry enough supplies to cover various weather conditions, food and water. Once we leave Hope there are no shops or cafe's on the hills, so you will need enough food and water (we would recommend 3ltrs) for the entire walk.

This is definitely a marathon walk and not a sprint, so we will stay as a group and stop at regular points to soak in the views and take on fuel!

Interested?

So we can get an idea of final numbers could you please indicate on the email or mobile below if you intend to walk and whether you are willing to drive. (Passengers will be encouraged to offer donations towards fuel and parking).

We will then set up a What's App group to provide a latest weather forecast and any updates a few days before the walk.

In summary:

6am leave from BTSC (remember the clocks go back)

7.30/ 7.45am Start walking

5.30pm Walk complete - depart back to BTSC.

You will need a food, water, suitable clothing for and after the walk - and most importantly a sense of adventure!!
