Membership Fees April 23 to March 2024

Dear Members

It is that time of year when we have to prompt all members to renew memberships and to commit to the payment of membership fees.

Following on from the recommendations of our Club Treasurer and taking into consideration increasing operating costs, like any other business in today's world, to survive the committee has had to make harsh decisions and therefore had to streamline/amend the membership categories.

At the past two committee meetings we have had in depth discussions re the rationale for each of the categories and made the decision to erase some of them to optimise membership revenue.

The decision has not been made lightly, and members have come forward and questioned the equity of the some of categories which has bought them also to our attention, it was also felt that some of the categories were difficult also to police/monitor.

As you are aware the club is managed by the committee on a voluntary basis, for some time now we have resisted to come into financial line with other similar sports businesses, however in support of our business continuity plan, now is the time we have needed to address this.

We feel we offer extremely competitive rates for membership fees and offer reduced costs in our bar facility against national pub prices, as a member you have to decide what you want to get out of your membership.

Our facilities have ongoing maintenance and repair costs, and we are all aware of increasing energy costs domestically, without such strong revenue from membership and bar facilities it would not be feasible to sustain our club.

The new categories are as follows and come into play on 1st April 2023:
'My Courts' are adjusted accordingly and the increase cost has been made across the board of membership:-

Full - £222
Spouse/partner living at the same address - £144
Senior/retired over 65 years of age - £144
Junior 0-16 years of age - £84
Junior 0-16 years of age with parent member - £72
Student post 16 (in FTE evidence required) - £84
Free - Bar staff/ Committee / Life (appointed by the committee)
Historical Bonded members - no change
Guest Squash Team Players - £30 as agreed currently by Sports Captain and the Committee.

At the discretion of the committee there maybe on occasions bespoke memberships agreed. The 3 month free trial membership is only to be available on Club Open Days and will continue to be reviewed.

If you cannot see your previous membership category above that is because it will not be active from 1st April 2023.

Hopefully you will understand and support the committee in their decision.

Thank you.
