URGENT: NEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS REQUIRED
Dear Member,
Recently, I made an appeal to you regarding a new Treasurer for the club (the second year running) and, so far, there have been no responses.
If you have ever read a magazine article about the pursuit of happiness, one of the most prominent recommendations is doing things for others. Personally, I see what I do for the club as Chairman, as a form of community work; however, like the rest of the committee, I have a full-time job and other responsibilities and, frankly, we are all starting to buckle under the pressure due to lack of volunteers.
From this AGM forward (25th July 2018, 7pm), we will be missing the following Committee members (and I’ve already been warned, possibly several others):
Treasurer
Data Protection Officer
Vice Chair
Marketing Officer
Sports and Social Secretary
Unfortunately, the cold reality is that, if not enough members or parents (of junior members) come forward to contribute to the voluntary effort to run the affairs of the club (which is how things have run for over 100 years), there will be no option other than to start outsourcing many of these services, which will translate into higher membership fees.
So, prior to this year’s AGM, to paraphrase a famous leader, ask not what your club can do for you, but what you can do for your club. Please consider joining the committee and help the organisation that we all value so much to continue to thrive.
Nomination sheets for board members will soon be pinned up in the bar area and, as a gesture of appreciation, all those elected to a committee post will be granted free annual membership.
